George Richard "Dick" Matthews. Born at 5 Rock Place, Brighton on 31 August 1884. Married Margaret Jones in Lampeter on 1 August 1910. They did not have any children. Served in the Tank Corps during World War I. Wedding Day photo

Harry Matthews. Born at Tyler Hill, near Canterbury, on 25 May 1886; died on 30 July 1953. He married Mary Ann Jones, (born 7 September 1886; died 2 May 1972 - she was half-sister of Margaret Jones, above) on 4 March 1917 at Old Windsor, Buckinghamshire. They had one child.

Emily Matthews. Born at Tyler Hill, near Canterbury, on 10 March 1888. She married Hubert Frederick Duck at St. George's Church, Canterbury on 12 March 1909. They had two children.

Frank Matthews. Born at 5 Rock Place, Brighton, on 6 April 1890; died 7 December 1955 at Porthallow St. Keverne, St. Anthony in Meneage, Cornwall. He married Annie Richards of Anglesey (1875 -1967) and had two children, one of whom was Robert Matthews (1914 -1944) who served in the RAF and was awarded the DFC in World War II.

Annie Matthews Born at Apsley Lodge, Sturry, near Canterbury, on 30 January 1892. She married Cooper A. Cheyney of Shawbury in Shropshire, a forester, at St. Nicholas Church, Sturry on 10 April 1912. He later died in a shooting accident and she remarried, to ----- Barefoot. She had two children by each marriage.

Ralph Matthews. Born at Apsley Lodge, Sturry, near Canterbury, on 3 November 1893. Served in the Royal Marines in World War 1. Later emigrated to Rhodesia (Zimbabwe) and died there on 15 March 1983. He married Agnes Benedicta "Dickie" Sutton in Cape Town on 16 October 1943. They had two children.

Ella Matthews. Born at Shelford Farm, near Canterbury on 9 April 1899; died 1 December 1954. She married Tom Castle of Petham on 3 September 1924 at St. Nicholas Church, Sturry, near Canterbury Photo. They had two children.

Robert Matthews. Born at Shelford Farm, near Canterbury on 2 March 1901. He emigrated to USA and died there in 1967. He married Eve ------ and they had five children.

Vera Matthews. Born at Vale Farm, Broad Oak, near Canterbury, on 15 November 1904; died 1997. During World War II she served in the WAAF. She never married.
